Fake science, as bad as it may sound, is one of the serious issues that go unnoticed in the education domain but have a deep disastrous impact on it. Recently a team of international journalists has come together to bring in light these low-quality journals. About 18 news outlets all over the world collaborated to work on this including Le Monde, India Express, and The New Yorker. The team involves 60 reporters led by German broadcasters NDR and WDR, and Suddeutsche Zeitung.

Investigation's primary objective is to make scholars and other educational bodies aware of how easy it is to publish a plagiarised research article with these so-called "fake journals". From the current findings of  Le Monde a French media outlet, more than 400,000 researchers have published their work in these dubious journals and used that to build their research profiles. Indian Express, one of India's most prestigious media outlet has done some great investigation to list publications being run on just a laptop and with no peer review process.

It is critical for the general public to know the kind of scam that is going around, all you have to do is read a couple of research papers already published in your field and draft your own paper out of it with little ideas of your own, submit it to a journal and within a month your paper will be published. Later you use this published certificate for academic purposes.

In the world of open education and numerous journals, it is difficult for journals to maintain their quality of research papers published. Many journals either become a victim of the painfully slow process of review and getting in touch with reviews and reminding them to review. Also, the trend shows that many reviewers become inactive because of non-activity or simply not getting enough incentives from the journals. To meet the business demands many publishers either publish a paper with minimal or no review process which leads to the negative reputation of the journals. Although many such companies are good at handling logistics, quality in paper publication, indexing or subscriptions but they lack in the good peer-review process. This all in turns affect the journal reputation and might result in false knowledge discoveries.

Taking an instance here, there are many fake journals that use the same name as Global Journals Inc. to create delusion and publish papers without any review. Journals like Global Journals US, Perfect Global Journals, etc have used the name of Global Journals Inc. taking advantage of the reputation of the exhaustive peer-review process followed by Global Journals Inc. and other multiple checks to verify a research is valid and impactful or not. Another big scam out there used by these journals is to use fake matrices of impact factors and other scales.

One of the primary reason is also that governments and educational institutes push their scholars to publish research papers to meet promotions demands. It's good to have such a scale for filterings like a junior researcher need to publish 3 papers to get promoted to the next level or a masters student need to publish 5 papers to graduate. But the problem here is not everyone can be brought to the same scale. Discussing a problem is one thing and finding a solution is another. Educational bodies need to invest more in the research domain of a country and to open more research institutions where scholars can work on real researches. The funny part of the entire thing is, will you blame a gun seller or someone who wants to use that gun? Empowering more research centers worldwide will improve the quality of research being published and will push the human race forward. We at Global Journals always work closely with big education institutions to always encourage their researchers and scholars to work on projects that create real impact. We from Global Journals would like to congratulate the team on investigators who exposed the fake publications and poor quality review processes.
